Profile

Mr. Lawrence Shu worked as an engineer in China before he started his legal practice.  The unique background in both law and engineering as well as the legal education both in civil law and in common law facilitate his deep communication with clients from various industries and jurisdictions so as to have a thorough understanding of their real business needs.

Mr. Lawrence Shu has provided efficient and high quality legal services to a large number of multi-national companies, foreign investment enterprises, commercial banks, non-banking financial institutions and hi-tech enterprises.  His legal practice mainly covers certain areas of international business, banking and investment and intellectual property, of which he is particularly knowledgeable and experienced in providing legal solutions to foreign investors for their investment activities and operation in China.

The main publications of Mr. Lawrence Shu include “M&A Regulations in China”, “On American Corporate Governance”, “Trust Vehicles for Auto Finance Transaction in China”, “Analysis of Legal Systems Concerning Taking-over of Listed Companies in China”, “A Comparative Study of Business Method Patents”, “Antitrust Issues in Franchising”, and “Legal Environment for Securities Companies in China”. 

Mr. Lawrence Shu is a guest lecturer of Chinese law at University of Freiburg in Germany.  He is also the committee member of Oxford China Scholarship Fund.
