Mr. Lu Zhifang is a senior partner of Hylands Law Firm.

Mr. Lu graduated from both undergraduate and advanced program for junior faculty members of the University of International Business & Economics (UIBE) in Beijing in the year of 1978 and 1980 respectively.  He received a LL.M. degree from Boalt Hall Law School, University of California at Berkeley In 1983.  From 1987 to 1988, he worked as foreign lawyer  at the London and Hong Kong offices of Linklaters & Paines.

Mr. Lu was also an associate professor of law at the UIBE. He served as an associate dean of the law faculty in the University for 8 years before his resignation of the deanship in 1994. He lectured as a visiting professor at the University of Connecticut School of Law and Loyola Law School in Los Angeles in 1989 and 1992 respectively.

Mr. Lu was admitted to practice law in China in 1985 and he has extensive experience in arbitrations on disputes in connection with foreign direct investment, international trade, and commercial contracts. Mr. Lu participated in arbitrations either as counsel, PRC legal expert or arbitrator in China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, Beijing Arbitration Commission, American Arbitration Association, Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong International Arbitration Center, International Chamber of Commerce Arbitration.

As an experienced lawyer, Mr. Lu has been advising foreign clients on a variety of legal issues involving foreign direct investment, venture capital investment, and private equity investment in China as well as other forms of foreign trade and economic cooperation activities. Mr. Lu has been extremely active in the capital market presenting the investors and /or companies in a number of major M&A deals and off-shore IPO in New York Stock Exchange and Hong Kong Stock Exchange and he is known as a great communicator and problem solver in M& A projects and IPO projects. Mr. Lu’s  extensive experience in the area of dispute resolution in respect of international commercial transactions and knowledge of laws of other jurisdictions contributes greatly to the high quality legal services in the areas of different types of business transactions.

Mr. Lu has been named by Asia pacific professional institutions on The Asia Pacific Legal 500 and Legal Who’s Who.
