Profile
Mr. Yan is a partner in Hylands Law Firm. His practice covers a full range of non-contentious, contentious and transactional intellectual property, Internet and technology matters. Mr. Yan has extensive experience in advising on strategic protection of IP portfolios; patent/trademark prosecution, copyright registration, administrative and civil enforcement of IP rights to commercial IP matters, including brand acquisition, licensing and technology transfer issues. Mr. Yan is particularly experienced in advising and handling large and complex IP enforcement and litigation in China.
Mr. Yan is an IP/IT lawyer who has worked in Hong Kong and China for 8 years. He joined Hylands in 2009. Prior to joining Hylands, he worked in Baker & McKenzie, Troutman Sanders and Freshfields Bruckaus Deringer. He is Head of IP Enforcement Team and is in charge of Hylands’ Shenzhen and Guangzhou offices.
Mr. Yan obtained his LLB degree from Wuhan University, and furthered his study of LLM in the Faculty of Law of the University of Hong Kong with sponsorship from European Union. Mr. Yan currently is a part-time lecturer in the University of Hong Kong and he is specialized in the cross border intellectual property protection between Mainland China and Hong Kong. He is also a panelist of Asian Domain Name Dispute Resolution Centre (ADNDRC).
